'Let's build the future'
Metal forming and metal cutting machine tools, machines for welding, for thermal and surface treatments, robots, mechatronics, additive manufacturing technologies, automation hardware and software, assembling, tools, parts, components, accessories, metrology, quality control, systems for safety and environmental protection.

Six years later, EMO, the world exhibition dedicated to the metal-working world, is back to Italy.
EMO is the travelling trade show that is alternately held in Italy and Germany and the chief event for the operators belonging to all fields of the manufacturing industry: from the automotive to the aerospace, from the energy to the biomedical field, from the  electric household appliances to the food industry.

From 5 to 10 October, EMO MILANO 2015 will raise the curtain of the prestigious fieramilano exhibition complex in Rho, presenting over 6,600 machines for an amount exceeding half billion euro. On show there will be machine tools, production systems, robots, industrial automation systems, all of them operating to illustrate the technological innovations that will determine the future of manufacturing production and of work methods within the factories.

In the limelight of the event there will be 1,600 enterprises, 12% more in comparison with the previous edition (2009), representing 42 countries. A testimony to the international character of the event is, first of all, the presence of foreign exhibitors representing 66% of the total attendance: it is an even higher share compared with that reported in the past edition (64% in 2009).

With 120,000 square meters of net exhibition area, 26% more than the area covered in the 2009 edition, EMO MILANO 2015 converts the fairground into the largest factory ever set up in an exhibition complex, which, moreover, is directly connected to the venue of EXPO 2015.

The supply offer, proposed in the 12 completely fitted-out halls at fieramilano, presents the whole production spectrum: from metal-forming to cutting machines, from robotics to automation systems, from tooling to auxiliary products, from mechatronics to additive technologies.

To facilitate the visit of the 150,000 operators expected from 100 countries, the halls have been organized by product category. In this framework, additives technologies make their debut: a sector in full development and for this reason still to be studied in-depth. The Additive manufacturing Focus is a space dedicated to these technologies, organized by AITA, Italian Association of Additives Technologies, in cooperation with ICE-Agenzia and with the Ministry of Economic Development.

The organization of EMO MILANO 2015 has been entrusted by CECIMO - European Association of Machine Tool Industries, promoter of the event and owner of the EMO brand - to the operational structures of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, Italian Machine Tools, Robots, Automation Systems and Auxiliary Technologies Manufacturers' Association, which has already been awarded the editions of 2021 and 2027.

"This entrustment proves the value and the relevance of the Italian sector industry on the international stage, where it ranks third worldwide among exporting countries and fourth in the ranking of manufacturers” stated Pier Luigi Streparava, Commissioner-General of EMO MILANO 2015.

"The importance of the trade show – which promises to be a record-breaking edition – went on Pier Luigi Streparava - is also attested by the recognition of the Ministry of Economic Development which included it among the exhibition events that are considered as real instruments of industrial policy in our country".

"This is a recognition which fostered the development and carrying out of initiatives aimed at promoting EMO everywhere in the world, thus increasing its visibility and the services available to exhibitors and visitors" - concluded the Commissioner-General.
Among the numerous activities, organized by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, in cooperation with ICE-Agenzia and the Ministry of Economic Development, a special initiative to be mentioned is the invitation to the exhibition of delegations of end users, journalists, teachers of major foreign technical institutes. The official delegations are coming from China, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Morocco, Mexico, Russia, Serbia, United States and Thailand. In this connection, around 3,000 meetings have already been arranged, involving Italian exhibitors. In addition to these, there will be autonomous delegations from Brazil, Japan, India, Russia, United States, Taiwan and Turkey. Globally, about 400 operators have been involved.

Moreover, EMO MILANO 2015 proposes a full programme of side events that also by a direct involvement of visitors, are favouring the development of new ideas and the opening of new scenarios. It is the case of the seminar on Additive Manufacturing and of the event ROBOFOOD 2015 - Robotics in the Food Industry. In addition, there will be special events, such as the Ceremony for the UCIMU AWARDS and the show "Machine Tool Scale Models", dedicated to metal crafts, re-evoking the genius and handicraft skills of Italians which also gave rise to the machine tool manufacturing industry.

“Surely - declared Luigi Galdabini, President of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE - EMO MILANO 2015 opens under the best auspices. From this year on, the world consumption of machine tools will start to grow again steadily (+2.3%), likely to register a 4.2% increase in 2016 and a 4.5% rise in 2017, when, according to the figures processed by the econometric institute Oxford Economics, it will achieve 64 billion euro. Italian consumption should record an even stronger growth: 5.3% in 2015, 5% in 2016 and 7.4% in 2017”.

“With reference to Italy - added Luigi Galdabini - on the basis of the forecast conducted by "Studies Centre & Business Culture" of UCIMU, in the first semester of 2015 the index of deliveries registered a +15.5% compared with the period January-June 2014 (domestic market +70.2%, foreign market +7.6%), whereas the index of orders showed a +12.9% (domestic market +28.5%, foreign market +8.9%). The exports of Italian machine tools also turned out to be on the rise by 8.3% in comparison with the period January-June 2014. All these figures bode well for the outcome of the trade show, where the Italian exhibitors make up the most numerous team. With 500 companies and 33,000 square metres of exhibition area, the Italian industry will be able to take advantage of the stage offered by EMO MILANO 2015 in the best way”.

EMO MILANO 2015 will open on Monday, 5 October with the inaugural ceremony held at the Auditorium of fieramilano Rho, starting from 10:30 am.
